Fun For Kids
In any season, Loveland offers a variety of attractions and fun for kids of all ages:
Loveland has done a wonderful job redoing the old Larimer County Fairgrounds area into a beautiful park on the Big Thompson River. The park is complete with pavilions, tot lot play area, picnic shelter, dog park, basketball courts, skate park, spray park/playground, baseball/softball fields, sculptures, historical buildings and restrooms.
The local Farmer's Market is held from June through September.
North Lake Park (located at the north end of Lake Loveland at Taft and 29th) is a beautiful area featuring playgrounds, swimming beach, train, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnicking, fishing, horseshoes, and an ampitheater.
The Loveland Sports Park (located south of Highway 34 on County Road 9) is 76-acre park area that takes its inspiration from Loveland's farming community and combines elements of the fun and fantasy of the "Wizard of Oz" with a working windmill, stacks of hay bales, a cherry orchard and red tin roofs. It also features 7 full sized soccer fields, the first synthetic "Championship" turf field in Northern Colorado (with lighting and grandstands), 2 in-line hockey rinks, a skate park (three bowls and a street course), basketball courts, and reservable picnic shelters. The park's other stand-out is a playground and splash park located beneath "Ozmill" , a sculptural representation of the Wizard of Oz tornado that moves with water and the wind.
